Divorce or separation can be a challenging time on it's own. Counseling can give extra support and assistance with confusing feelings for your child or children during this time to navigate family changes and remain healthy and balanced. Typically both parents with joint custody are informed of the child or children's treatment.
Therapy for children can be fun and meaningful. Most sessions with children will include learning more about themselves, their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and appropriate coping skills, as well as playing a game, draw pictures, or color to practice what we learn and build a good relationship between child and therapist. Parents are encouraged to continue communicating with the therapist through the process and are kept well-informed with the focus and progress.
